Ayurveda is a tradition of wisdom that has been practiced for thousands of years in South Asia from as far west as Afghanistan to as far east as Indonesia. Its aim is “swasthasya swasthya rakshanam aturasya vikara prashamanam cha” to guard the health of a healthy person and to eliminate disease from a sick person. Ayurveda’s strength is in its ability to customize guidance based on the unique circumstances of each individual.
Ayurveda is based on knowledge of the 5 elements (space, air, fire, water, earth) and how these elements combine in different ways to create the natural world and the various forces therein. With this knowledge we can better understand our own mind/body’s tendencies and affinities to minimize imbalance and maximize health and happiness.
Kitchen Spices are considered aushadha or medicine in Ayurveda and can be used to help with varying everyday health challenges like bloating, indigestion, sore throat, cold and more. We will learn about some fundamental principles of Ayurvedic herbs, how they affect the bio-energies (dosha) and learn what remedies reside in our own kitchen cabinets. No previous experience necessary.

He is continuing his Ayurvedic studies to become an Ayurvedic Practitioner and has been certified to teach yoga, meditation and breathwork for the past 18 years with the Art of Living Foundation.
