A Letter from Chakra’s Director of Healing & Design

“Let’s start at the very beginning, a very good place to start.” ~ Maria, The Sound of Music

Welcome. In the spirit of giving thanks, I’d like to first say thank you for being here. And share my thoughts on Why Chakra, Why Now and Why Me.

Why Chakra and Why Now? 2020 changed all of us. One of the most major shifts I witnessed is a newfound receptivity to unique ways of coping and healing in the face of unparalleled uncertainty and the sense of the unknown. Suddenly alternative holistic healing doesn’t seem so “woo woo”, it seems necessary. As the world was going to hell in a handbasket, many were desperately searching for new ways to cope. Lifelong acquaintances have come out of the woodworks with a newfound interest in all things wellness. Friends I haven’t spoken to in years have sent me questions about gardening by moon phases, herbal remedies for boosting the immune system, and about what crystal to settle their child’s restless nerves.

While the pandemic has subsided, a receptivity to new ways of living an optimal existence remains strong, which I find very encouraging. Enter Chakra. Our vision is to create an urban sanctuary for the curious and wellness-oriented. A place that makes it easier to access leading holistic service providers. Our city is brimming with talented practitioners with a myriad of services just waiting to guide you on the wellness journey you’ve been looking for. At Chakra, we are curating a lineup of leading wellness providers under one roof.

While this is good for the body and mind, it’s also good for business. The global wellness market, including spiritual self-care, was recently valued at $4 trillion. Yes; trillion with a t. This is up from $3.7 trillion only five years ago in 2017. This growth has been twice as fast as the growth of the global economy. The need for wellness – beyond the once yearly visit to your general physician to check height, weight & blood pressure – is growing exponentially and shows no sign of slowing down anytime soon.

Why Me?
Let’s face it…I’ve always been the witchy queer kid on the playground. Interests in the natural world and the healing powers that reside within it seemed to foster a budding interest at a young age. Jefferson County acorns were muddled into make-shift poultices for scrapes & bruises, while learning to live in tandem with the rhythmic cycles of the landscape around me encouraged autumnal fire cider cookouts and peppermint oil-soaked afternoons in the summer heat.

‘No time like the present’ mantras encouraged me to choose the wellness fields as my career of choice. My degrees in horticulture & design coalesce with my passions for Crystal Resonance Therapy and all things metaphysical, while my 20+ years of retail experience lend an unwavering patience and keen ability to genuinely want to get to know people. The endless well that is the Chakra vessel piqued my interests and landed me at Chakra. And I am so glad it did, because it’s going to be something very special. I can feel it; and as an intuitive healer I know I must listen to that message.

So now, the metaphysical Carrie Bradshaw in me can’t help but wonder: Is wellness finally slapping a downpayment onto the priorities of mainstream society or is it merely temporarily subletting by moving back in with the parents next door? I think I have my answer: finally, Chakra lives here, and hopefully – over time – within each and everyone of us. The destination we didn’t know we needed is here. I hope you’ll reach out and let me help you navigate the wild, wonderful world of wellness through eastern, holistic practices. Whether as a prospective practitioner or customer, I’d love the chance to show you the space and hear more about your journey to optimal wellbeing.

Warmly,

Drew Dinges
