An Introduction to the Root Chakra
Each month we will dive deeply into the essence of our company name, the Chakra System. This ancient system established in India between 1500 BC and 500 BC refers to a system of rainbow-colored vortexes that vibrate within and around our bodies at specific energetic crossroads. These energy centers are generators of spiritual power in the human body and can be used to both draw in and expend energy.
Although the concept of the Chakra System is ancient, it is still relevant today for aligning the mind-body connection as it was thousands of years ago. The Chakric System has also become the framework for which we developed our personal business model and website.
To begin this monthly exploration of the Chakras, we start at the very beginning with the Root Chakra. Also known as Muladhara, this energy center is located at the base of the spine within the pelvic floor. The word mula means root whereas adhara means support, making this Chakra the foundational structure upon which all physicality is built.
Resonating with the Earth Element, the Root Chakra governs forces of survival needs, stability, security, groundedness within self and upon this planet, and connection to self and to others. It enacts the Fight or Flight Response within the human energetic system and controls our instinct and impulse triggers. A connector to family and clan, the Root Chakra establishes our physical manifestations within this earthen plane, fortifying structures of belonging, confidence and purpose.
